LATIN NAME

Coprinopsis picacea

Oviod maturing through bell shaped with upturned edges melting away into an ‘ink’.

3-7 cm across,  7 – 12 cm tall.

White, 10 to 20 cm tall. Covered in flocculations.

Bulbous base.

Crowded, adnate or free, white – turning pinky/red before melting into a black ink.

Infrequent in GB & Ireland. More common in mainland Europe on alkaline soil.
