A rare winter visitor to the lake at Wyke Farm. The UK has a resident, feral breeding population of approximately 1500 pairs. However, in the winter months, up to 100,000 birds arrive from Greenland and Svalbard. Most birds are concentrated in coastal areas, in particular the Solway Firth and on Islay.
